We envision an autonomous, rooted, and self-determined community of migrant and Indigenous people — free from persecution, exploitation, and the violence of borders.

We imagine a world where:

Families are protected, informed, and empowered
Culture, ceremony, and community care guide daily life
Our barrios are strong, organized, and united
No one is disposable, and no one is alone
Our children inherit safety, joy, and possibility

We see a future without physical or spiritual borders —

a future where our people live, heal, organize, and thrive with dignity,

not at the margins, but at the center of our collective story.

THEORY OF CHANGE:

Our theory of change is rooted in a simple truth:

When the people organize, heal, and defend one another, liberation becomes possible.

We believe that long-term transformation requires:

1. Politicizing our communities

So our people understand power and how to wield it.

2. Building neighborhood-based defense systems

So we are prepared, connected, and never alone in crisis.

3. Restoring cultural identities

So we remember who we are and where we come from.

4. Healing from generational trauma

Because wounded communities cannot build liberated futures without collective care.

5. Equipping families with legal and economic tools

So no one is controlled or exploited through fear.

6. Creating spaces for collective learning and belonging

So our people grow, organize, and protect each other sustainably.

Through these pillars, our communities develop lasting power — the kind that cannot be taken away by institutions, borders, or governments.

MISSION:

We are migrant, Indigenous, and working-class people from the barrios of Arizona, building our autonomy through community, culture, and collective defense.

Semillas Arizona exists to protect our families, honor our ancestors, and grow the power of our people through the following pillars:

1. Community Defense & Protection

We train and organize neighborhood-based networks that defend our dignity and safety.

This includes:

community defense trainings
crisis acompañamiento
neighborhood defense committees
collective response systems
practices that reduce reliance on harmful institutions

We protect our people from criminalization, exploitation, and state violence — together.

2. Political & Popular Education

We believe our people have the right to understand the systems that harm us.

We provide:

Know Your Rights workshops
scenario roleplays
political education circles
community learning spaces
practical tools for everyday survival

When our people understand power, they can transform it.

3. Collective Healing & Cultural Restoration

Colonization wounded our families — but culture heals us.

We create spaces rooted in:

Indigenous knowledge
ceremony and storytelling
art and creative expression
cultural memory
community care

Healing is how we rebuild identity, dignity, and connection.

4. Economic & Legal Empowerment

Every family deserves the tools to navigate systems safely.

We offer:

document clinics
wage-theft support
notary access
safe legal education
the Generador de Acuerdos Familiares (GAF), a tool that protects undocumented families

We break cycles of exploitation by equipping families with power, not fear.

5. Youth Leadership & Intergenerational Continuity

The future of the barrio lives in our young people.

We uplift youth through:

creative and cultural programming
political and popular education
